Unique and Fun Couple Photos at an Arcade in Austin

When people think about couple photos, they often imagine something quiet and scenic, like a field at sunset, a walk through a park, maybe a little hand-holding and soft light. And those sessions are beautiful! But they’re not the only way.

This elopement session took place somewhere that mattered deeply to the couple: the original Pinballz arcade in Austin. Ben and Rihonna have been friends with me and my husband for almost ten years. They’re both nerds in the best sense of the word, so when it came time to take photos together, choosing an arcade made complete sense.

Sessions like this are such a good reminder that couple photos don’t have to fit into one mold. Unusual locations often do a few really important things:

  • They give couples something to do, which helps everyone relax

  • They create natural movement and interaction

  • They reflect shared interests and history

  • They result in images that feel authentic instead of posed

Unique couple sessions are especially meaningful for couples who want photos that feel fun, real, and true to who they are together. They’re a great fit if you don’t see yourselves reflected in traditional romantic imagery, if your connection is built around shared hobbies or experiences, or if you’re drawn to something more personal. These sessions work best when the location actually matters to you, whether that’s an arcade, a bookstore, a record shop, a pizza place, a favorite bar, or even somewhere that only makes sense to the two of you.

If you’re dreaming about unique and fun couple photos that look and feel different, photos that reflect who you actually are together, I’d love to help you bring that idea to life.
